Get to know me!
Hey there, I’m Sahar!
saharramjad@gmail.com
With my Pakistani heritage, the biggest insight I had into design, photography, and videography was poring over my parents’ wedding photos in awe of how young they looked. And there’s the famous inside joke with desi videography back in the motherland—”always have to show how good the food is”.
My journey may be in its infancy but I love what I do and hope to bring storytelling into my work. My personal goal is to feature South Asian women in a big way sometime in the future, as the centerpiece of my work. I grew up with one foot in the US, one foot in Pakistan and never really felt like I fit in with either culture. I know this is a similar experience for many immigrants and children of immigrants, and I want to showcase the beauty and diversity of South Asia and South Asian women from all walks of life.
I wish I could tell you that photography has always been my passion, but it was more of a happy discovery later in life.
Early 2023, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law asked me to look at a menu for their café—so I gave it a fair try and in doing so fell head over heels for the process of designing graphics to be used in their shop.
Photography was the natural next step in my love of design. After all, photography and design go hand in hand. After that one trip to Best Buy, my camera and I became inseparable. My friends and family have come to expect me pulling out my camera as everyone is chatting to remember the moment.
And that’s what photography, videography, and design have become for me: ways to bottle up a moment—all the emotions, the warm sun, or the chill breeze—and hold onto it to look fondly back later.
That’s what I hope to capture for you—all the warm fuzzies from your special day for you to look back on.
Since my start with Cha Papi, I’ve met so many wonderful people, had so many amazing opportunities. I hope to continue growing, learning, and changing from these experiences—both as a photographer and person.
I look forward to every new challenge on this journey, and I’m so grateful to everyone supporting me, and cheering me on as I grow and learn!
